I think it is usually the English that are the ones that are painted (or tainted) as usually being a little over confident and to be fair that has been far from true of recent - there are not even many houses or cars around with flags flying any more.

But what the Swedes did here is just so far over the top it just begged for them to get beat in the match last night. I wonder if Roy Hodgson managed to get his hands on a copy of this to show his team before kick-off as not much beats this to get an opposing team motivated before a big game.

Yes, the Swedes did give England a run for their money but we kind of expected that as these are normally close games despite the fact that most Swedish players are lets say good, professional players that play at a decent level whereas England's team is made up of millionaires with way more money than sense and don't really care - at least that is what is often portrayed. Mr Gerrard needs to keep his mouth shut though with his "Sweden are not France" statement - let the Swedish press do all the damage.
